Spectacularly happy~

so we generally don't post bout our bicoastal visits since they seem quite ordinary compared to our other trips...however, i think we should probably start to since lots of 'interesting' things happen on these occassions...so anyways viv flew in for my 26th...well, not really for me, since her parents were in town and also her guy...but back to the point, we went to babbo for dinner...it's this new italian restaurant that's all the rage and apparently impossible to get in; yah, i don't ask, i just show up for the food =) so we decided to do the pasta tasting menu with wine pairings since it required the least amount of thought, well that was my thought process at least...and our eight course menu was as follows (italics for wine pairings):

Black Tagliatelle with Peas and Pecorino
"Vespa Bianco", Bastianich 2003
Asparagus and Ricotta "Mezzalune" with Spring Onion Butter
Fiano di Avellino "Colli di Lapio," Clelia Romano 2006
Garganelli with "Funghi Trifolati"
Morellino di Scansano "I Perazzi," La Mozza 2005
Domingo's Pyramids with Passato di Pomodoro
Torrette Superieur "Vigna Rovetta," Grosjean 2005
Pappardelle Bolognese
"Soffocone di Vincigliata," Bibi Graetz 2004
"Frittelle di Caciotta" with Figs and Honey
Moscato di Trani "Piani di Tufara," Rivera 2004
"Fiore di Latte" with Raspberry Vincotto
Brachetto d'Acqui, Braida 2006
Chocolate Polenta Cake with Espresso Gelato
Recioto della Valpolicella, Lorenzo Begali 2003

Umm, yah so it was a bit excessive...viv's favorite that she had been waiting for was the Pappardelle Bolognese and the first course. but i think i enjoyed the fourth course with the desserts the most =)

anyways, afterwards we went to viv's hotel and drank more...which led me to become 'spectacularly happy' haha =)

moral of story: do not drink over 4 cocktails in less than 2 hours after an eight course meal with wine pairings =P
